The Air Training Corps
The Air Training Corps (ATC) is a uniformed, air focussed, national youth organisation encouraging a practical interest in aviation, adventure and sport as well as providing training which will be useful to young people, especially those interested in a career in aviation and in the Services. Such training builds self-confidence and knowledge, which in turn develops leaders and good citizens.
The organisation is open to boys and girls between the ages of 13 and 18, and centres around local Squadrons. Most Squadrons carry out regular meetings and training on 2 evenings a week, with occasional weekend activities.
The aims of the Air Training Corps are:
• To promote
and encourage a practical interest in aviation and the Royal Air Force.
• To provide training which will be useful
in the Services and Civilian life.
• To foster the spirit of adventure and
develop qualities of leadership and citizenship.
Cadets get to participate in a large range of activities including: Adventure Training, Fieldcraft & Night Exercises, Sports, Flying & Gliding, Shooting, Annual Camps & RAF Station Visits, Academic Training, The Duke of Edinburgh's Award, International Exchanges, Project Work and Community Work.
For more information about any of these activities please follow their links for more information from the Air Cadets Organisation website.
